About the Artist
I enjoy a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including wilderness travel, hunting, fishing, horsemanship, and canoeing. In the winter I stay active by cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
I began my road to self-employment as a farrier (horseshoer) in 1999. I performed harmonica, vocals, and guitar in my blues band Live End from 1996 through 2003. I continue to actively practice my music both solo and with others.
I have worked for various federal and state agencies in natural resources positions including: forester, environmental educator, counselor / crew leader, and wilderness ranger.
My wife, Jennifer, is a true outdoors woman and has contributed to my design ideas. She is a Fire Management Officer for the Chequamegon - Nicolet National Forest. We have a daughter, Morgan, who is in grade school. She has been deer and turkey hunting with us since age three. One of our favorite activities together is looking for shed deer antlers in the Spring.
Horsemanship by Jason Rabuck
Winter and early Spring find me doing the most knife making. Once the weather breaks I also do part-time horse training and riding instruction here at my place. For now this can and does affect the time frame for processing knife orders as I juggle vocations during our warmer months. As a farrier, I became troubled by the disparity of the horses receiving training while the owners did not! I have developed a natural horsemanship program that teaches both the horse and owner in a logical way. I enjoy working with all types of horses, but especially enjoy the challenge of disrespectful older horses that have seemed to get the best of their owners. The program is based on three key steps: giving the owner and horse the knowledge to succeed; the confidence to do it; and instilling the patience required for excellence. I thoroughly enjoy the life long learning that accompanies the many facets of working with horses and the people who love them. Please feel me to contact me regarding your horsemanship needs.
